Oakville Olympians London 2012 Olympics

Oakville's Mayor Rob Burton announces planned celebrations for Oakville Olympians sometime in September, 2012. This year, Canada earned 5 silver medals at the Olympics and one of them was won by Adam van Koeverden who trains in Algonquin National Park and is from Oakville. The Oakville Olympic medallists are Adam van Koeverden (silver in kayak single 1000m), Diana Matheson (bronze in women's soccer) and Doug Csima (silver in men’s eight rowing). Canada finished with 1 gold medal, 5 silver medals and 12 bronze medals for a total of 18 medals at this year's 2012 Olympic games in London. Jennifer Abel and Émilie Heymans were the first Canadians to win medals there with diving and women's 3m synchronized springboard diving. Then Meaghan Benfeito and Roseline Filion topped up Canada's medal count with more diving. Antoine Valois-Fortier took a bronze medal for men's under 81kg judo and Christine Girard won the women's 63kg weightlifting category. Rowers helped increase the silver medal tally with Canada’s crew (Gabriel Bergen, Douglas Csima, Rob Gibson, Conlin Mccabe, Malcolm Howard, Andrew Byrnes, Jeremiah Brown, Will Crothers and cox Brian Price ) winning the men's eight silver medal in rowing. The women were not outdone and also won silver in the women's eight. (Janine Hanson, Rachelle Viinberg, Krista Guloien, Lauren Wilkinson, Natalie Mastracci, Ashley Brzozowicz, Darcy Marquardt, Andreanne Morin and Lesley Thompson-Willie ) The only gold medal was won by Rosannagh MacLennan on trampoline. Adam van Koeverden of Oakville won silver in the canoe/kayak men's k1 1,000 metre event. One of the hardest won medals was the bronze in Canadian Women's Soccer. The heartbreak story of questionable officiating had the Canadian's come back in the last few minutes of the final event to win the bronze.

QR Codes Connect the Offline World to Your Website

QR codes are popping up on signs, flyers, brochures and even restaurant table centerpieces around town. Many businesses are not properly implementing the QR codes including some very large realtors. They have not thought through the process of connecting the offline world to their online website.

When a smart phone user downloads a QR code app, they are armed with an instant connection to a referenced business they find offline - on a flyer, business card, brochure or in a magazine or newspaper. The problem is that the smart phone user is usually routed to the business' desktop website and has a closeup view of the top left corner of that site. Now the pinching, squeezing and scrolling begins! But it does not have to be that way.

Webmad, Oakville, optimizes websites and creates a synced mobile website so a smart phone user is automatically redirected to the mobile version of a business' website. Instead of unmanageable content, the images are optimized for faster loading, there is a click to call button, a map button and a mobile friendly user experience highly increasing the chances the searcher will contact the business.

Is your business missing out on the right way to use QR codes and have a mobile optimized website? Call Webmad Internet Marketing in Oakville to discuss further.
